Misuse of Ambulance at Sassoon General Hospital

The gross misuse of Ambulance donated by BSNL Pune to Sassoon General Hospital has come to light. Ambulance is for the purpose of ferrying patients or accident victims.

But in Sassoon General Hospital, it is not used for patients but for making joy rides and for irrelevant purposes. Recently a doctor captured a photo of the ambulance ferrying household goods of a lady Administrative Officer Mrs. Mumtaz Pathan of the BJMC. This pix would be uploaded on the web soon, which will expose how the Ambulance is being misused by one and all.

There are many incidents were misuse of official position by the acting dean and other officials have come to light. A RTI applicant who sought information of the Ambulance and its use, was stunned to find that it was used for stupid reasons, even for ferrying cleaning brooms and for paying electricity bills. On some occasion it was used for ferrying officials on city and outstation tours.

Senior doctors, lecturers, professors and head of departments are questioning the irregularities by the acting dean. Is this person fit to occupy the chair of the dean, is the question they are raising in the corridors of the BJMC.

A little bird gossiped that a discreet enquiry by the CID has been ordered by the government against the acting dean and some others. Hope things will turn for good after the discreet inquiries.

Dr. Jamkar out of the race for the VC post?

Dr. Jamkar out of the race for the VC Post?

The latest whispers in the corridors of the Sassoon General Hospital and BJ Medical College in Pune is that Dr. Arun Jamkar, the acting dean of the BJMC who has applied for the post of the VC of MUHS Nashik is knocked out of the race.

According to the rumor mill in the corridors, the opponents or say detractors or better terms enemies of Dr. Jamkar had used their sources in the Raj Bhavan to knock the poor chap out of the race. They pointed out to their sources that Dr. Arun Jamkar is a misfit for the post as he is neither MPSC or DPC cleared for the dean post, and morever there are several complaints against him with the Governor and the government.

Poor chap, said his opponents, used and misused the entire staff of the college for three days including the three stenos and the admin staff to prepare a huge volume of his bio-data and annexes of his work. What he did not know was that the Governor or the Selection Committee has not time to read the hundreds of pages or time for it.

Anyhow, people were seen gossiping and making mockery of Dr. Jamkar and his female colleague with whom he went on a 'holiday' to the Andaman and Nicobar island and returned on Friday.

There are more interesting gossip about Dr. Jamkar, corruption and irregularities done under his leadership. Read more on this in the next bulletin.

Poor suffer as politics ruin the health services

This blogger read this news on the internet and a link was sent by one of the doctors of BJ Medical College, Pune. In the final analysis only the poor will suffer out of this rift. The journalist appears to have done a good job and exposed the truth behind the move, ofcourse unwise by all means. Why doesn't the minister Dr. Gavit clean the rot prevailing in all the state-run medical colleges? Why " incompetent and deadwood" are sent or kept for years in the prestigious BJ Medical College? Why the minister does not understand the consequences of that will follow due to the immediate move-over of doctors? Instead the minister should concentrate on providing better medical services and cleansing the medical colleges run hospitals of corrupt, inefficient, lazy and incompetent staff.

With the international negative exposure, the government is only tarnishing its image worldwide, repercussions which will be not healthy for the government. We pray and hope that things improve for the better.

Rift between Congress, NCP ministers affect health services

By SHAHID RAZA BURNEY | ARAB NEWS

MUMBAI: A rift between the no-nonsense Health Minister Suresh Shetty of the Congress party and Minister of Medical Education Vijay Kumar Gavit of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has affected health services in 14 state-run hospitals attached to medical colleges.

Shetty has asked the Congress-led Democratic Front government to issue a government resolution to abolish 450 posts of medical superintendents, deputy medical superintendents, resident medical officers and others who perform administrative duties in these hospitals. The rift is over authority as these hospitals come under the Public Health Department (PHD) which is under Shetty's purview, while the medical colleges are under Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) which is controlled by Gavit.

Orders to relieve the 450 officers with immediate effect from the hospitals attached to the medical colleges were received on Friday by the PHD deputy directors in different regions of the state, and many personnel were relieved, which has lead to turmoil in the hospitals.

These 14 medical colleges cannot handle the huge volume of patients like the big hospitals, JJ Hospital in Mumbai and Sassoon in Pune.

The medical colleges have limited number of professors, associate professors, and lecturers and they cannot handle the dual role of teaching and handling patients and administrative work, said a senior PHD official.

Shetty's stand is that there is an acute shortage of doctors in rural areas and his decision to abolish these posts in the medical colleges where his department doctors were on deputation was to serve the poor masses in the rural areas. The PHD doctors would now be moved from the medical colleges and sent to serve in rural hospitals (RH) and primary health centers (PHC) said a deputy director of the PHD.

A senior PHD official told Arab News that the move to abolish the 450 posts was a result of the outbursts of a deputy medical superintendent of the Sassoon General Hospital in Pune from the PHD cadre against the controversial director of DMER and the dean of the hospital over taking over temporary charge as medical superintendent two months ago.

It is alleged that the deputy medical superintendent had a tiff with the director of DMER and abused him and the dean on phone. This peeved the director who took it up with Gavit and the secretary of medical education.

The director of DMER is also in trouble on various front including being alleged by a deputy dean of having fudged his age to continue in the job when all his juniors have retired.

The 450 doctors attached to the Maharashtra State Gaxetted Medical Officers Association have gone on casual leave throughout the state protesting the order to abolish their posts. "It is not the right time to transfer us out, as the schools and colleges have started and our children would be put to great hardship," said a resident medical officer.

Dean Hatao, Sassoon Bachao

ACTING DEAN HATAO, SASSOON BACHAO

Sorry for the break in the blog tenure, the culprit being my study vacation abroad since March. But many things had moved up and down during my break period. The situation in the BJ Medical College and in Sassoon General Hospital has gone from worse to worst under the guardianship of the Acting Dean (11 period contract) Dr. Arun Jamkar, who has not cleared the DPC or the MPSC interview but yet is saddled shamelessly to the post of the Dean. God knows why he is still thrust on to the staff and students for the past 30 years and why the government is so helpless and incompetent to retain him in Pune ONLY while kicking out those who had completed three years.

Why the government is avoiding to boot out Dr. Jamkar who has openly flouted the Maharashtra Government Servants Transfer Act. 2005 ushered in after great pains by renowned social activist Shri. Hazare. Who is the godfather that is protecting a incompetent person who has ruined the college and hospital and caused anguish and pains to several doctors and staff, whispered a senior professor.

It's a known fact that residents, doctors and staff are hostile to Dr. Jamkar. I learn't that some union workers held a protest demonstration in front of the Dean's chamber shouting slogan against Dr. Jamkar. The slogans were perhaps meaningful " Acting Dean ko Hatao, Sassoon Ko Bachao."

Whispers were also doing the rounds two days ago that a group of senior professors of the BJMC had called upon Shri. Anna Hazare and complained about Dr. Arun Jamkar and his long tenure. They also highlighted in depth the tenure of Dr. Arun Jamkar and his doctor wife in Pune and his short stint of three months at Kolhapur. The delegation also complained to Annaji that Dr. Jamkar was indulging in dirty politics and providing disinformation of professors who are his detractors and furnishing the same to the secretary Mr. Mhaiskar and the Director of DMEr Dr. Wasudeo Tayade who himself is said to be under cloud of suspicion of fudging his birth date to remain glued to his post while his his colleagues who were younger to him had retired.

Whispers were also doing the round that Dr. Jamkar boasts about his close proximity to the Chief Minister Ashok Chavan and had recently got his transfer cancelled to Nanded through the contacts of some doctors known to Dr. Nitin Kareer, the secretary to the Chief Minister. In a way Dr. Jamkar is gloating of his connections with the Chief Minister and thus exploiting the name of the Chief Minister to his advantage.

A resident doctor revealed that a Deputy Medical Superintendent of the Sassoon Hospital Dr. Pandurang Burute had dared on not only Dr. Jamkar but also the Director of DMER Dr. Tayade to deny him the acting Medical Superintendent post, when the Medical Superintendent Dr. Panduran Pawar had suffered a heart attack and was on leave. Dr. Burute rightly took on both Dr. Tayade and Dr. Jamkar heads on, and a few resident doctors who were present when Dr. Burute was speaking on phone to Dr. Tayade and Dr. Jamkar, that Dr. Burute not only abused both of them severelly, but also dared Dr. Jamkar to take any action to remove him from the acting Medical Superintendent post. "Dr. Burute abused Dr. Jamkar in the most vulgar langauge and filthiest foul language, that if there would have been any other person in place of Dr. Jamkar, he would have resigned immediately, instead of digesting such humilation and insult," said lecturer of medicine department.

Some professors and lecturers were gossiping in the corridors of the hospital, that Dr. Jamkar likes to invite trouble and then pass on the buck to the others. He plays dirty senseless politics, he tolerates all shame and insults, and uses others for his dirty work. Two administatrative officers who refused to toe the line of Dr. Jamkar, were reported by him to the Dr. Tayade, who was successful in transferring one of the administrative officers KT Sukase to Ambajogai, but then what Dr. Jamkar perhaps does not know that Sukase is a clever fox and has close proximity to powerful opposition party leaders, who may shake his chair.

A senior doctor said that Dr. Jamkar is in a trouble and problem, as MNS legislator Ram Wanjile from Khadakvasla constituency has come out in support of Sukase, and is rumored to have telephone Dr. Jamkar and abused him in the strongest way and warned that MNS volunteers would taint his face black if he does not amend his ways, the doctor said.

What appears that Dr. Jamkar is heading for more troubles. He is rumored to have gone out to favor SOFOSH, which has enroached on more land in the hospital than it was offered and have requested the land grant to be extended, and that Dr. Kareer is alleged to be pressing for it and Dr. Jamkar prepared to oblige. This news have gone to the activists, who are planning to move against Dr. Jamkar through the Governor and the politicians.

So, more trouble brewing for Dr. Jamkar and more problems which would put him in a catch-22 situation for sure. So, so little for now, but much more about Dr. Jamkar and his stupid adventures in the next blog. Till then, take care and keep reading and spreading about the blog.

SHORTLY you can follow the blog on Facebook and Twitter.

Thank you.

Corruption is the Hallmark in Sassoon

People are tired of the corruption in Sassoon General Hospital. The less said the better of the corruption in the office of the Superintendent of the hospital, Room No. 74. Patients speak of not only corruption for handicap certificates but also for age certificates. Not to speak of the rude behavior of one crazy and mentally effected lady doctor Jyoti Dhase. She is alleged to be demanding money from everyone. She speaks rudely with everyone. The Superintendent Dr. Pawar is said to be protecting her.

Clerks and peons in the corridors of the Superintendent's office were heard whispering that this doctor Dhase has been arrogant and rude towards even them. She in the past had minted lot of money from certificates. She screams and shouts and shrieks for no valid reason. A doctor said that Dr. Dhase has been working in the hospital for several years without being transferred and is known to be a highly corrupt lady.

The problem patients say is that corruption is rampant in every corner of the hospital. Reimbursement bills do not get passed unless the palms are greased. Even for the police recruitment medical test, one has to shell money.

Every service here is linked to illegal gratification. The Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent are in the race of sucking the blood out of the poor patients and with Dr. Dhase, their work becomes more easy.

People say with a weak Acting Dean who is incompetent to take any action, he has failed so far on all fronts, corruption and rude behavior will continue. Why can't the Acting Dean shunt out this lady doctor to his office or some place far away from the center of corruption? Or will the people have to knock the doors of the government in power?
